ধামুয়া স্টেশনে ট্রেন অবরোধ চছে।

গরমে কাহিল। ট্রেনের কম্পার্টমেন্টে চামড়া কাটাকাটি ভিড়। অনেকক্ষণ ধরে ধানুয়া স্টেশনে আটকে আছি। মগরাহাট হাট থেকে ৮-১০টার আপ ট্রেন। অবরোধের কারণে জেন্টস কম্পার্টমেন ্টের বগি কেটে লেডিস কম্পার্টমেন্ট করে দিয়েছে। তাই পুরুষ যাত্রীদের ক্ষোভ বেড়েছে। তারা তাদের কম্পার্টমেন্টে উঠতে পারছে না। এত গরমে ভিড়ে দরদর করে মুখ-হাত থেকে ঘাম ঝরছে। মনে হচ্ছে স্নান সেরে উঠেছি। ডিআরএম-এর এই তুঘলকি সিদ্ধান্ত যাত্রী সাধারণের যন্ত্রণার কারণ হয়ে উঠেছে। আমার ডায়মন্ড হারবার শাখায় কোনো লেডিস ট্রেন নেই, সেদিকে তাঁর কোনো মাথাব্যথা নেই। সকালের দিকে কোনো মগরাহাট লোকাল নেই। এত ভিড়, এত ভিড়ে ট্রেনে উঠতে কত প্রাণ অকালে ঝরে গেছে। রেল কর্তৃপক্ষের কোনো মাথাব্যথা নেই। বিজেপি সরকারকে বদনাম করতে জিএম এবং ডিআরএম-এর বদ অভিসন্ধি। স্টেশনে হকার বসে আর সেখানে ভাগ যায় রেলের অধিকারীদের কাছে। এগুলোর পূর্ণ তদন্ত দরকার। কোনো অবরোধ নয়। নির্বিঘ্নে চলবে, যাত্রীদের কোনো বিপদের মধ্যে ফেলবেন না।
এক ঘণ্টার উপরে দাঁড়িয়ে পা ব্যথা হয়ে গেছে, তবু ট্রেন ছাড়ার কোনো খবর নেই। কখন এই অবরোধ উঠবে জানি না। রেল কর্তৃপক্ষের কোনো তৎপরতা দেখা যাচ্ছে না।

কয়লা পাচার মামলার তদন্তে এবার আরও গতি বাড়াল কেন্দ্রীয় তদন্তকারী সংস্থা ইডি। ফের একবার তদন্তকারীদের আতশ কাচের নীচে চলে এলেন এ রাজ্যের পুলিশক র্তারা। কয়লা পাচারের অভিযোগে এবার রাজ্যের পাঁচজন আইপিএস অফিসারকে দিল্লির ইডি সদর দফতরে তলব করা হয়েছে বলে সূত্রে খবর। আগামী ১৫ জুনের পর থেকেই ওই অফিসারদের তদন্তকারীদের মুখোমুখি হতে হবে এবং সেই অনুযায়ী তাঁদের কাছে ইতিমধ্যেই নোটিস পাঠানো হয়েছে।কয়লা পাচারের এই মামলাটি মূলত ২০২০ সালের। ইডির দাবি, তৃণমূলের সরকারের জমানায় তৎকালীন শাসকদলের শীর্ষ নেতৃত্বের অত্যন্ত ঘনিষ্ঠ ছিলেন এই আইপিএস অফিসাররা। আর সেই প্রভাব খাটিয়েই মোটা অঙ্কের টাকার বিনিময়ে দুর্গাপুর, আসানসোল, পুরুলিয়া এবং বীরভূম জেলার খনি অঞ্চল থেকে অবৈধভাবে কয়লা পাচারের রাস্তা মসৃণ করে দেওয়া হয়েছিল। অভিযোগ, খনি অঞ্চলের কয়লা মাফিয়াদের কাছ থেকে কোটি কোটি টাকা নগদ ঘুষ নিয়েছিলেন এই পুলিশকর্তারা।
সেলভা মুরুগান, রাজীব মিশ্র, সুকেশ জৈন, তথাগত বসু এবং কোটেশ্বর রাও- এই পাঁচজন-সহ মোট ৯ জন আইপিএস অফিসারকে দিল্লিতে ডেকে পাঠানো হয়েছে বলে খবর। যদিও কয়েকজন জানিয়েছেন, তাঁরা এখনও হাজিরার নোটিস পাননি।
লালার ডায়েরি ও হিসাবরক্ষকদের বয়ান। এই মামলার মূল অভিযুক্ত অনুপ মাজি ওরফে লালার একাধিক হিসাব রক্ষককে ইতিমধ্যেই জিজ্ঞাসাবাদ করে তাঁদের বয়ান নথিবদ্ধ করেছেন তদন্তকারীরা। এছাড়া, লালার অফিসে তল্লাশি চালিয়ে উদ্ধার হয়েছিল প্রায় ১০টি ডায়েরি। সেই ডায়েরির পাতা থেকেই এই আইপিএস অফিসারদের সঙ্গে কোটি কোটি টাকার অবৈধ আর্থিক লেনদেনের তথ্য ও প্রমাণ হাতে এসেছে ইডির। এই মামলায় এবারই প্রথম নয়, এর আগেও এ রাজ্যের ৯ জন আইপিএস অফিসারকে দিল্লিতে ডেকে পাঠিয়ে ম্যারাথন জিজ্ঞাসাবাদ করা হয়েছিল।

দক্ষিণ ২৪ পরগনার ভাঙড়ের ১৯ বছর বয়সি অ্যাথলিট তহুরা খাতুন হংকং এ অনুষ্ঠিত অনূর্ধ্ব-২০ এশিয়ান অ্যাথলেটিক্স চ্যাম্পিয়নশিপে ৪×৪০০ মিটার রিলে তে ভারতের হয়ে সোনার পদক জিতেছেন। এটি তাঁর প্রথম আন্তর্জাতিক সোনা। তহুরা ব্যক্তিগত ও মিশ্র রিলেতেও অংশ নেন, তবে সেখানে পদক পাননি। আর্থিক অসুবিধার মধ্যেও কঠোর পরিশ্রম করে তিনি এই সাফল্য অর্জন করেছেন। এখন তিনি জাতীয় সি নিয়র দলে জায়গা করে নিতে চান এবং আরও ভ ালো প্রশিক্ষণের জন্য সরকারি সহায়তার আশা করছেন। ভাঙ্গড় ফুলবাড়ীর বাসিন্দা তহুরার দৌড়ের জীবন শুরু হয় ভাঙ্গড় এ এইচ হাই মাদ্রাসা থেকে। তার জন্য গর্বিত ভাঙ্গড়বাসী।

International Seminar on Iran–Israel Conflict and the Changing Geopolitics of the Middle East Held at Bidhan Chandra College
Rishra, March 14: Bidhan Chandra College, Rishra organised a one-day International Seminar on “Iran–Israel Conflict and the Changing Geopolitics of the Middle East” on Saturday, March 14, 2026. It was the second international seminar hosted by the college within a week, reflecting the institution’s active engagement with contemporary global issues.
The seminar focused on the evolving geopolitical and economic situation in the Middle East arising from the ongoing tensions between Israel and the United States on one side and Iran on the other. The discussion highlighted how the conflict has significant implications for regional stability and global politics.
The speaker for the seminar was Mr. Muniam Alfaker, former Advisor to the Iraqi Ministry of Culture, who is currently based in Denmark. In his lecture, Mr. Alfaker analysed the complex dynamics of the conflict and discussed the reasons why several Muslim-majority countries have not openly supported Iran. He also elaborated on what he described as the strategic interests of the United States in the region and examined the possible role of India in navigating the changing geopolitical landscape of the Middle East.
The programme began with a welcome address by the Principal of the college, Dr. Ramesh Kar, who emphasised the importance of organising academic discussions on pressing global issues. He highlighted the role of higher education institutions in encouraging critical thinking and informed dialogue on international developments.
The seminar was convened by Dr. Samindra Mohan Biswas, Head of the Department of History.
The seminar witnessed enthusiastic participation from students and staff members of the college, making it a stimulating platform for intellectual exchange on contemporary international politics.

International Seminar on Inequality in South Asia Held at Bidhan Chandra College, Rishra
A one-day International Seminar titled “Inequality in South Asia: Issues and Perspectives from Sri Lanka” was held at Bidhan Chandra College, Rishra on 9th March 2026. The seminar focused on the growing challenges of inequality in the South Asian region and the experiences of Sri Lanka in addressing socio-economic disparities.
Dr. Siri Hettige, Emeritus Professor of Sociology at the University of Colombo, was the speaker at the seminar. In his lecture, he discussed the trajectory of South Asian development in the post-colonial period, with particular reference to Sri Lanka. He highlighted the persistent challenges of inequality in the region and emphasised the importance of regional cooperation in addressing socio-economic disparities. He also referred to Sri Lanka’s efforts at internal development despite facing multiple economic and political crises in recent years.
The programme began with a welcome address by the Principal of the college, Dr. Ramesh Kar, who underscored the importance of organising academic discussions on pressing regional issues and stressed the role of higher education institutions in fostering critical dialogue on socio-economic challenges.
The seminar was convened by Dr. Debtanu Majee, Head of the Department of Political Science. A large number of students attended the seminar and actively participated in the discussion session.
